Iceland!

We are preparing for our trip to Iceland! Hopefully we wont forget anything important. The plan is to arrive in Reykjavik and spend two days and two nights there in the city. We will be visiting some museums and walking around getting used to the time change etc. We rented a room off the Airbnb website, its about a ten minute walk from the city center. We are first time users of this website. After those first two days we will get our rental vehicle (Dacia Duster) and head out around the island. We have plenty of stops already planned out, but we will be relaxed about it. No pressure for us! We would definitely like to snorkel in the Silfra Rift, which we may do towards the end of our journey. I have uploaded a map with some places that we have marked with red tabs. We wont  be able to get to some of them due to weather/road conditions. Ultimately we will have to stay pretty close to the Ring Road as Iceland is known for mercurial weather patterns. Our Map of Iceland

At the moment we plan on spending several nights camping out in the Duster. Saving money and being a bit more independent is the name of our game. We will break it up with renting rooms here and there. Hopefully that way we will be able to meet some fantastic people!

Once we get to the northern part of the island, there is a smaller island  known as Grimsey which we can take a ferry to. What’s really cool about this place is that it is roughly bisected by the Arctic Circle. I am hoping to see some icebergs!

Apparently there are over 500 hot springs in Iceland, I intend to enjoy as many as possible. I will of course try to update this blog with pictures and entries as much as possible.
